Welcome to Dave’s Coin Corner. I am neither a novice nor an expert, just somewhere in between. On this site, I’d like to share my experience of coin collecting and some issues I’ve come across. One of my upcoming posts will cover some indicators that a coin is likely fake. It’s happened to me a few times, so I don’t want you to fall for the same traps I did.

In my “Supplies” page, I will also discuss the products I use and recommend. Additionally, once I have it all worked out, I’ll be adding some products I sell. Currently, I have a store on eBay, but after all their fees and trying to stay competitive price-wise, I only make a small profit on a few of the items I sell. So, I’m looking at alternatives, but I haven’t worked out all the logistics of doing that.

I’m eagerly awaiting the 2026 Semi-Quincentennial coins. Some will be released later this year, but the ones I ordered are starting to arrive. There will be a 2026 dual date penny, but it will only be available in collector sets. If you have an interest in obtaining one, I suggest you go to the US Mint (https://www.usmint.gov/uncirculated-coin-set-2026-26RJ.html) and purchase it directly from them. I expect to see the same thing occur as is happening with the 2025 penny. That is, suppliers will buy these sets in bulk and strip out the penny and sell it at about 50% the cost of buying the set directly from the mint and piecing off the rest of the set or selling the remaining set without the penny.
